My journey has always been driven by a deep desire to uplift and empower others. It all started back in grade school when I dedicated my recess time to assist Kindergarten students—a spark that ignited my passion for making a positive impact on people's lives.
My career took an interesting twist when I joined the Jimmy John's team, where I spent over a decade working across various locations in Virginia. Beginning as a delivery driver, I seized every opportunity to immerse myself in the business, starting from the ground up. During my time in Blacksburg, VA (GO HOKIES!), I played a pivotal role in hiring and training long-term managers and significantly contributed to the development of systems and documentation that are still in use today.
But my journey didn't stop there. My move to the Shenandoah Valley shed light on the unique challenges faced by small business owners. I recognized a glaring gap in resources available to these entrepreneurs for enhancing their business management skills. Thus, the concept of Prism was born.
I then embarked on a journey of relentless learning, diving deep into the intricacies of running a small business. In 2019, I proudly earned her Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, and am currently working towards pursuing certification as an Enrolled Agent to further strengthen my expertise. As the Communications Director & Webmaster for the Shenandoah Valley Society of Human Resource Managers (SVSHRM), I remain committed to staying at the forefront of industry knowledge and practices.
In addition to my work at Prism, I am deeply committed to making a difference in my local community. I currently serve as a Commissioner on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Commission for the City of Staunton, where I co-lead the Logistics and Planning sub-committee. This role aligns seamlessly with my DEI in the workplace certificate and my identity as a PROUD BORICUA.
As the Operations Director for Staunton Jams, a local bi-annual music festival amplifying the music and arts scene in the Shenandoah Valley, I am deeply committed to community culture enrichment. I also actively serve as a Co-Leader and Cookie Manager for the Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline, and play a pivotal role in equipping young girls in the community with invaluable skills for long-term development and leadership.
Outside my professional and volunteer roles, my zest for life truly shines through. I cherish moments spent with my husband, Dan, along with my pup Bernie and fluffball cat, Zara. I’m a regular at music festivals, a seasoned Pokémon Go enthusiast, and a Flow Arts aficionado, skilled in silk fans and hoop dance.
My life is an inspiring blend of personal and professional growth, all while leaving a lasting, positive mark on everyone I meet.
